NS Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras And Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore The national level ranking index NIRF 2021 or the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is struggling hard to achieve the top rank. In 2020, IIT-Madras was ranked as the best institute in the country in the engineering category as well as overall. If this year also IIT-Madras wins this place, it will be a hat-trick for the institute. IISc Bangalore last secured the top spot in 2018 and was pushed to the second position by IIT-Madras in 2019 and since then there is stiff competition between the two institutes.
When it comes to internal rankings – THE or QS or any other – IISc from India leads the pack. While IITs perform best in the Indian rankings, internally they do not perform as well. The first generation and leading IITs have released 2020. In Boycotted Times Higher Education (D) Rankings The boycott is still ongoing, citing a lack of “transparency in their ranking process”.
The Ministry of Education will release the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) – the Indian Ranking System – tomorrow, 9 September at noon. Launched in 2015, the annual ranking will rate education institutions across the country on a number of parameters including teaching-learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduate outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception.
This is the sixth annual ranking and for the first time Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will release the rankings. The ranking will be released in online mode. Last year also it was released in virtual mode due to the pandemic.
In 2020, the number of colleges participating in the ranking system had increased by 20 percent as compared to 2019. The numbers are expected to increase this year as well. In 2020, a new ranking index for dental colleges was launched. Earlier dental colleges used to rank with medical colleges.
This year, students will get overall best educational institute, best university, best MBA college, best college, best medical college, best dental college and best college in research. As of now, no new category has been announced.
