Yash Dhul-led Indian team won the 2022 ICC Under-19 World Cup by defeating England by 4 wickets in the final played in Antigua on Sunday. This is a record-extending fifth win for India in the U19 World Cup. England’s attempt to win their second title since winning the tournament in 1998 ended in disappointment as their unbeaten Indian juggernaut steamed up their opposition. India were formidable with the ball, reducing England to 61/6, before a reguard from James Ray (95) bowled the team out for 189. India were made to work hard for their runs and eventually Nishant Sindhu’s unbeaten 50 and another half-century from vice-captain Sheikh Rashid (50) took the team home. Raj Angad Bawa was adjudged the player of the match for his devastating spell of 5/31 and mature knock of 35 runs which set up the win.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly and other office bearers of the Cricket Board of India posted congratulatory tweets after Dhul and his team’s victory.

“Congratulations to the U-19 team and the support staff and selectors for winning the world cup in such a wonderful way.. The announcement of the 40 lakh cash prize by us is a small token of appreciation but their efforts are beyond value.. Brilliant content. .@BCCIGanguly wrote.
