BCI opposes recognition of gay marriage, requests Supreme Court – leave the decision to the legislature

The Bar Council of India has stated that more than 99.9% of the people of the country oppose the idea of ​​same-sex marriage. According to the BCI, the majority of the population believes that any decision of the Supreme Court in favor of the petitioner would be against the socio-religious and cultural fabric of the country.

Bar councils across the country are also opposed to the idea of ​​same-sex marriage. The Bar Council of India, on behalf of the Bar Council of India, has passed a resolution in this regard in the joint meeting of the Bar Councils of all the states and sent it to the Supreme Court. Keeping this in mind, it has been advised that the competent legislature should take a decision after detailed consultation process with these various socio-religious geographies.

Bar Council of India chairman and senior advocate Manan Kumar Mishra said that considering the socio-religious mix of the country, we thought that the idea of ​​same-sex marriage is against our culture. Such decisions are not taken by the courts and such steps should come through the process of law.
