Before the assembly by-election, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand did a road show in Champawat.

Champawat (Uttarakhand), May 27 (ANI): Ahead of the Champawat assembly by-election, which is scheduled to be held on May 31, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a roadshow in Madli Talli town of Champawat district on Friday.

Talking to ANI, the Chief Minister said that he is very happy to get the support and blessings of the people.

“I am a candidate from Champawat constituency. I am going to everyone for their support and vote. Glad to have his blessings. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a vision for Uttarakhand which I want to take forward.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Kailash Gahtori had resigned from Champawat assembly seat to pave the way for Dhami to contest a by-election after Dhami’s defeat from Khatima constituency during the elections held in February this year.

Dhami lost the Khatima seat to Congress candidate Bhuvan Chandra Kapri, despite the BJP winning the 2022 assembly elections in Uttarakhand with a majority.

At present Dhami is not a member of the State Legislative Assembly.

According to the Election Commission, polling will be held on May 31 while the counting of votes will take place on June 3.
