Ben Stokes included in England’s Ashes squad

‘I look forward to seeing my teammates and being on the field with them. I am ready for Australia’

Star all-rounder Ben Stokes, who has taken an indefinite break from all forms of cricket to focus on his mental health, has been included in England’s Test squad for the Ashes series against Australia later this year.

Stokes took a break from the game in July to focus on his mental health as well as recover from his finger injury during the first leg of the IPL.

“I took a break to prioritize my mental well-being and I had my finger fixed,” Stokes was quoted as saying by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

“I look forward to seeing my teammates and being on the field with them. I am ready for Australia,” he said.

The ECB said in a statement that Stokes has been given full clarity by his advisor and the ECB medical team that he should resume training after the second operation on his left index finger.

Ashley Giles, England’s managing director of men’s cricket, said: “After a very successful operation on his finger and several conversations between Ben and I, our medical staff and his management team over the past few weeks, Ben asked me to say He is ready to return to cricket and was excited about the prospect of playing a key role in the Ashes series.

He will leave on November 4 with the Test experts and Lions. Stokes missed the home series against India and was not included in the T20 World Cup squad.

However, earlier this month the 30-year-old posted a video on his social media about his return to training, sparking speculation that he might feature in the five-Test series starting in Brisbane.

“Time and time again, Ben has demonstrated how important he is to the England team and having him available for the Ashes series is very important to all of us and especially to Chris (Silverwood), Joe (Root) and the rest of us.” Great news. Players,” Giles said.

“After not playing for a while, we will proceed carefully over the next few weeks to ensure that he is fully prepared for all aspects of his game.

“Before a very busy period of cricket, we continue to be mindful of the stress placed on all of our personnel, and our primary focus is on the well-being of all our players and support staff.”
