Bengaluru floods: IT companies, startups ask employees to work from home

The country’s most renowned IT firms and startups have asked employees to work from home as incessant rains lashed India’s Silicon city with waterlogging and flooding in many parts.

Since Bengaluru has many global companies and domestic startups, which were under water, operations in IT firms and startups were largely unaffected. The reason being, most of them had power backup and a hybrid work environment where few workers logged in from home.

But, technology companies engaged in research and development were not as fortunate and faced challenges in accessing laboratories, which adversely affected their global workflow.

Officials from the Germany-based technology company said they were facing problems accessing research laboratories, despite most of the work being carried out in a hybrid environment.
