Greater Noida: Bennett University The Center for Sustainability and Life Skills was launched on Friday to promote interventionist research on environmental crisis and develop life skills among young learners.
The center will design the sustainability framework in India to meet the growth of India’s social and corporate governance ecosystem.
As part of this centre, researchers will help Indian industries and social organizations integrate sustainability models into their investment decisions.
Speaking at the launch of the centre, Bennett University Vice-Chancellor Prabhu Agarwal stressed that when the world is changing rapidly, it is necessary to align our progress with sustainable models. He suggested that pedagogy should sharpen our imaginative skills and planetary thinking.
KS Rao, Secretary, Sahitya Akademi (Ministry of Culture) said, “The Center should conduct its research keeping in mind the wider interest of the world. The skills of our youth need to be included in the curriculum to build a framework for collective life. Will prepare to take the lead in UNESCO’s Sustainable Development Action Plan.At a time when world leaders struggle to meet their goal of limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C, Bennett University’s new center Can make a significant contribution to global policy making on sustainability.
Dhananjay Singh, President, Center for English Studies, JNU, said: “The center must follow the multidisciplinary approach of liberal arts with an emphasis on the interconnectedness of life while maintaining entrepreneurial skills.”
The Center for Sustainability and Life Skills is a part of Bennett’s liberal arts program. The center has been set up to provide short courses on sustainability, leadership skills and life skills in line with the new education policy set by the Government of India.
