New Delhi: The Congress party under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi is all set for the India Jodi Yatra to be held from Kanyakumari on 7 September. Senior party leaders unveiled the logo, tagline and pamphlet of the Yatra in the national capital today.
1) The 148-day march will end in Kashmir.
2) The five-month journey is scheduled to cover a distance of 3,500 km and over 12 states.
3) The padyatra (March) will cover a distance of 25 km per day.
4) The Yatra will include padyatras, rallies and public meetings which will be attended by senior Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
5) The tagline says ‘Mile Kadam-Jude Watan’ roughly translates to united steps and the nation will get together.
6) “We have also launched a website,” said party leader Jairam Ramesh.
7) The Congress suffered a defeat in the assembly elections held earlier this year and the yatra is being seen as an attempt to rally the party’s rank and file for the upcoming electoral battle.
