Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra resumed from Adampur in Punjab here on Monday with a large number of people marching along with Rahul Gandhi despite the bitter cold.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra of the Congress began here on Monday from Adampur in Punjab, in which a large number of people were marching Rahul Gandhi Despite the bitter cold.

The march started from Kala Bakra area and several Congress leaders, including state party chief Amarinder Singh Raja Waring, were seen accompanying Gandhi.

The yatra will enter Hoshiarpur district later in the day as part of its journey in Punjab and halt for the night at Urmar Tanda.

The march, which started from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on September 7, will end in Srinagar by January 30, with Gandhi hoisting the national flag in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

It has so far covered Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

The march was suspended for 24 hours in view of the death of Congress MP Santokh Singh Choudhary on Saturday. The MP had a cardiac arrest during the journey. He was cremated at his native village Dhaliwal in Jalandhar on Sunday.

The march had resumed in Jalandhar on Sunday afternoon and singer Sidhu Musewala’s father Balkaur Singh had joined it.

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Musewala, was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district in May last year.

Gandhi had said in a tweet that he saw tremendous courage and fortitude in Musewala’s father.

The Punjab phase of the march began on Wednesday from Sirhind in Fatehgarh Sahib. In view of Lohri festival, the yatra came to a halt on Friday.
