BharatPe had sacked Ashneer Grover last year for alleged financial irregularities.
The salaries of top executives including BharatPe founder Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri Jain Grover have been revealed following a regulatory filing by the fintech startup. The filing shows that BharatPe’s former chief executive officer (CEO), Suhail Sameer, took home Rs 2.1 crore in FY12 and co-founder Shashwat Nakrani earned Rs 29.8 lakh during the same period. The report said that board member Kewal Handa and former State Bank of India chief Rajnish Kumar were paid Rs 36 lakh and Rs 21.4 lakh, respectively.
However, the disclosed salaries of these executives do not include share-based payments made to them. As per the company’s financials, it spent Rs 70 crore in share-based payouts in FY12, a 218% increase over the previous year, the report said.
BharatPe had sacked Ashneer Grover and his wife in March last year for alleged financial irregularities. The founder resigned from the company and its board a few days later. Fintech company filed a December 2022 criminal trial Demanded Rs 88.67 crore in damages against Ashneer Grover and his family. It accused the founder of fraud and embezzlement of funds.
Suhail Sameer resigned as the CEO of BharatPe earlier this month. A statement from BharatPe said he will be “as strategic advisor to the chief executive officer with effect from January 7, 2023”. He said last year that BharatPe does not have enough money to pay salaries Ashneer Grover stole everything for his employees.
Last week the Delhi High Court had issued summons to ashner Grover opposed the suit by BharatPe co-founder Bhavik Koladiya, who wants to reclaim the shares transferred to Mr Grover.
