Circle Officer Umesh Chandra said, “On Wednesday night, unidentified miscreants damaged the statue installed in the fair ground. We are probing the matter.”
Under the leadership of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) District President Gangadin, some members of the party demonstrated against the incident.
On the complaint of the district BSP president, the police have registered a case.
BSP members have threatened to intensify their protest if the statue is not restored at the earliest.
