Bid to provoke communal in Kannauj. Kanpur News – Times of India

Kanpur/Lucknow: Unknown miscreants tried to disturb communal peace by beheading the calf. Shiv Temple in Talagram police station area Kannauj District on Saturday.
Angered by the incident, the local people burnt three kiosks in the area demanding action against the miscreants. They also took out a procession and blocked the Chhibramau-Indergarh highway for hours.
Later the police detained six people in this connection and registered three cases. Heavy police force has been deployed in the area, though the situation has returned to normal. Divisional Commissioner Raj Shekhar and Inspector General of Police, Kanpur Range, Prashant Kumar Camping in the district.
Speaking to TOI, Kumar said that priest Jagdish Jatav saw a mutilated calf in the ‘havan kund’ of the temple located in Rasulabad village. “The priest informed the police and a team led by SHO, Talgram, Hari Shyam Singh reached the spot. The entire temple complex was washed and the objectionable object was removed from there,” Kumar said.
The news spread like wildfire and activists and leaders of several Hindu organizations started gathering in the area. Police said they also blocked the Chhibramau highway and set three shops on fire.
The way was cleared when senior police officers reached the spot and assured the agitators that strict action would be taken against the miscreants. After the case was registered, the crowd dispersed.
Locals said that unidentified miscreants had thrown pieces of meat at another temple in the area on July 10. The incident caused unrest among the residents. The police have failed to arrest any miscreant in this case.
Meanwhile, Kumar said that the police is also probing the allegation of the July 10 incident. He said that a case would be registered against those who vandalized the shops.
