The statement comes after a video of Gehlot purportedly entering the party amid the pandemic went viral on social media, purportedly saying “big corona”.

A day after a purported video comparing Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot with his rival Sachin Pilot coronavirus went viral on social media, with the latter saying that he has seen “big men falling down” in politics.

Quoting his late father Rajesh Pilot, he said, “I have seen big people falling down in politics. Respect each other’s views.

Without naming Gehlot, he said, “There is a need to understand each other’s views. If someone disagrees with a view, listen to it with dignity.”

He said, we can also protest, but the specialty of democracy is that even when there is a difference of opinion, we sit and listen to each other.

He further said that views should be heard and everyone has the right to express their disagreement. “Everyone deserves to be heard, everyone has a right to disagree, whatever the extent of the disagreement, it should be dealt with with an open mind.”

The statement came after a video of Gehlot purportedly saying that a “big corona” has entered the party after the pandemic went viral. The video is of Gehlot’s pre-budget meeting with employees union representatives on Wednesday.

Gehlot said, “I have started meeting…first Corona came…a big corona entered our party too.” .

The statement was in retaliation to Pilot’s statement on Monday in which he targeted the state government on the issues of paper leak, sidelining party workers and political appointments to retired bureaucrats.

Since the formation of the Congress government in December 2018, there has been a tussle between Gehlot and Pilot over power.

Recently, the Pilot camp has revived the demand to make him the chief minister, with leaders loyal to him openly demanding that he be given the top post in the state ahead of the elections due later this year.

A major controversy erupted last month after Gehlot remarked that Pilot is a ‘gaddar’ (traitor) and cannot be replaced. The remark drew a sharp reaction from Pilot, who said that using that kind of language was not befitting of Gehlot’s stature and that such “mud-slinging” would not help at a time when the focus was on the Rahul Gandhi-led India duo. Must be on tour. ,

Meanwhile, the Congress leadership has asked both the factions not to engage in public fighting, sources told CNN-News18.
