Patna: Facing the onslaught of opposition over the recent deaths due to consumption of illicit liquor in his home district Nalanda, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar On Monday asked senior bureaucrats to ensure that there is no laxity in implementing strict prohibition across the state.

Reiterating that he would not tolerate any negligence on the part of officials in enforcing complete prohibition, Nitish said, “Prohibition officers and police departments should work together with utmost diligence.”
He said, ‘Expedite the trial in all matters related to prohibition. Also, the process of destroying all the seized liquor should be expedited.
The CM asked the officials to keep a special watch on the implementation of prohibition in the state capital. “Identify those who offer drinks and those who consume and take appropriate action,” he said.
Nitish also asked the officials to continue with the raids in a planned manner using drones, motor-boats, dog squads etc so that not a single trader of illicit liquor is saved.
“Previous assessments have shown that more than 1.64 crore people have given up drinking in the state since prohibition was imposed in April, 2016,” the CM said. People who gave up alcohol

Complete prohibition is being implemented successfully in Bihar. People of other states should be informed about this through various means of publicity.
