Patna: Economic Offenses Unit (EOUThe state police on Monday arrested four people for pressurizing them. Director General of police and other senior officers A state in Eastern India Police from one WhatsApp number to close the case against one IPS Officer.
One of them, as Chief Justice of Patna High Court, was pressurizing the DGP to close the case against Aditya Kumar, an IPS officer of 2011 batch, while three other accused run mobile phone shops.
Addressing media persons here on Monday, ADG (HQ) Jitendra Singh Gangwar said that DGP SK Singhal informed ADG (EOU) Nayyar Hasnain Khan about the matter.
“The DGP, in his complaint, said that he received WhatsApp calls from a number on his official cellphone, in which the picture of the Chief Justice of Patna High Court has been uploaded. He had doubts about the matter and informed the EOU. The team was constituted by the EOU to probe the matter. The number was registered in the name of Rahul Jaiswal of Patna city,” he said.
“During the investigation, mastermind Abhishek Agarwal (42) of Nageshwar Colony was arrested. He used to call Bihar Police officials. Besides him, three more were arrested including Gaurav Raj (24) of Khajekalan, who runs a mobile Sim The shop, Shubham Kumar (20) and Rahul Jaiswal (23), who run a mobile phone shop. Police also recovered several mobile phones and two SIM cards from the accused. IPS officer Aditya is also a named accused in this case.”
EOU’s SP Sushil Kumar said, “The accused was working at the behest of the IPS officer to gather information about the case and close the ongoing investigation against him. He allegedly colluded with the liquor mafia when he was posted as SSP of Gaya. Case was also registered against IPS officer whose phone number is switched off and he is absconding.”
