Kozhikode:
A 20-year-old man was killed and another injured when a concrete electric post on a bike collapsed on a bike at Bepore near Kozhikode in Kerala on Thursday.
Police said the passenger sitting behind suffered minor injuries and was admitted to a nearby hospital.
Locals later blocked the road alleging that the accident was due to negligence on the part of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB).
However, a local KSEB official rubbished the allegation and said that a contractor, who was tasked to remove the demolished posts, did so without any precaution.
“While breaking the pole, he fell on the bike and fell,” the officer said.
The contractor was not available for comments.
