The Delhi BJP unit and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched their respective campaign theme songs on Tuesday, a day after the parties filed their nominations for the December 4 civic polls. Both parties claimed that it represented “the voice of the people”.

They took aim at each other by highlighting various issues like corruption, pollution and cleanliness through songs in an attempt to gain an edge ahead of the municipal elections.

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari has written and sung the song and Neelkant Bakshi, former media relations head of the state unit, is the creative director of the music video, while Punjab-based artiste Baljeet has composed the music for it.

The name of AAP’s song is ‘MCD Mein Bhi Kejriwal’, in which it has been said that people have made up their mind to bring AAP to power in MCD. The song also attacks the BJP for alleged corruption in the MCD and says that mountains of garbage have to be removed from Delhi.

It was sung by senior AAP leader Dilip Pandey and the lyrics were penned by Lokesh Singh of the Cultural Cell of AAP Bihar State Wing. The song is composed by Sushant Asthana, who studied music at Trinity College, London.

‘BJP fails’

On the occasion of the release of the song, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia said, “The primary job of the MCD was to keep Delhi clean. But the BJP has miserably failed in its duty. People gave Arvind Kejriwal a chance and he changed education-healthcare, gave free electricity, sent elders on free pilgrimage.

He alleged that the BJP, on the other hand, gave only mountains of garbage during its 17-year rule in the MCD.

He said, ‘If Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal could make so much progress in five years, then why the BJP-ruled MCD could not do anything in 17 years. BJP wreaked havoc in Delhi for 17 years; Every Delhiite is asking what BJP did in 17 years.
