Controversy over the inauguration of the new Parliament House

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition parties are coming face to face regarding the inauguration of the new Parliament House. Actually, PM Modi is going to inaugurate the new Parliament House on 28 May. Opposition parties demand that in the new Parliament House, the post of President should be elected in place of the President.

  1. The Congress is also worried about the opening date of the new Parliament House. The day of May 28 has been chosen to inaugurate it, which is the birth anniversary of VD Savarkar. The Congress expresses its opposition to the selection of this date.

  2. The BJP has accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of being a “bad omen”. BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said, “His thinking is so low that he cannot welcome such historical moments.”

  3. Bhatia also called the Congress “useless” and said that Veer Savarkar is the pride of every Indian. Those who are raising questions on the date are not even worth the dust of Veer Savarkar’s feet.

  4. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge has accused the government of not inviting the President and former Presidents for the inauguration of “repeated outrages of decorum”.

  5. Mallikarjun Kharge said that even when the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new Parliament was taking place, President Ram Nath Kovind was not invited. And now that it has been inaugurated, President Draupadi Murmu has not been invited.

  6. In another tweet, Kharge wrote that he (the President) alone represents the government, responsible and equal to every citizen. He is the first citizen of India. The inauguration of the new Parliament House by him will be a symbol of the government’s commitment to democratic democratic and constitutional institutions.

  7. Other opposition parties are also targeting the government over the revelations. CPI’s D King said that when it comes to Modi ji, he breaks decency and authority for his self-image and obsession with technology.

  8. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi tweeted on the issue saying that PM Modi is the head of the executive and not the legislature. We have separation of powers and Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha Speaker can inaugurate themselves. It is made of public money, why is the PM behaving as if his ‘friends’ have filled it with their personal funds.

  10. Explain that 888 members can sit comfortably in the Assembly Hall of the new Parliament House and 300 members in the Rajya Sabha Hall. In the event of a joint sitting of both houses on 16 November, the chamber can accommodate 1,280 members.
