BJP leaders Biswajit Das, Mantosh Nath join Mamata’s Trinamool Congress

Two leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC). BJP MLA Biswajit Das and councilor Mantosh Nath joined the saffron party at a function in Kolkata.

In a conversation after joining, Das said that he has returned to his “home” and will continue to work for the people of the state and the constituency.

“Due to some misunderstandings, some changes were made which should not have been done. I have returned to my home now and I will continue to work for the people of my state and constituency,” he said.

Earlier on Monday, Bishnupur MLA Tanmay Ghosh had joined the Trinamool Congress and alleged that the BJP was doing politics of vendetta. He had switched from TMC to BJP in March, days before the state elections. Prior to this, he was also the TMC youth president of Bishnupur town in Bankura district and councilor of the local civic body.
