BJP leaders standing in queue outside Trinamool Congress office: Abhishek Banerjee

The TMC has often referred to the BJP as a “party of outsiders”.

Amid a series of defections from the BJP to the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, state’s ruling party’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday said if his outfit keeps its doors shut, the saffron camp will collapse in no time.

Addressing a rally in Samserganj constituency in Murshidabad district, where polling is to be held on September 30, Banerjee claimed that BJP leaders, mostly MLAs, queued up in front of the TMC office, whose doors were locked.

“We have kept the doors closed. If the doors are opened, the BJP will surely fall,” he said.

The Diamond Harbor MP further said that the Mamata Banerjee-led party had driven out “outsiders” during the March-April assembly elections, and would do so again in the upcoming elections.

The TMC has often referred to the BJP as a “party of outsiders”.

“These outsiders need to be taught a lesson again… In the upcoming elections, the saffron party will be defeated. Wherever the BJP is in power, we will go there and uproot the party,” he said.

The MP also alleged that the BJP government in Tripura imposed a ban under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code to prevent him from holding rallies in the neighboring state.

“How long will the order be in force in Tripura? TMC will definitely register a victory in Tripura. People will see what TMC is able to achieve in the next three months,” he said.

Assembly elections in Tripura are due in early 2023.

TMC has fielded Amirul Islam from Samserganj seat, where elections were earlier canceled following the death of Congress candidate Rezaul Haque.
