BJP Parliamentary Board to meet tomorrow to finalize candidates for Karnataka elections

Election notification will be issued on April 13, while the last date for filing nominations is April 20

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday said the BJP’s state election committee has shortlisted three names from each constituency for the May 10 assembly polls and the parliamentary board is meeting to discuss and finalize the list of candidates. Will hold a meeting in New Delhi on 8th April.

The Chief Minister is leaving for New Delhi this evening.

He said, ‘Tomorrow our parliamentary board meeting is there (in Delhi). “After discussions (on the candidates) today and tomorrow, the parliamentary board will meet to finalize it,” Bommai said.

Talking to reporters here, he said, “Opinions have been collected from the constituency and district level, after which the State Election Committee has discussed and shortlisted three names (per constituency), on which the Parliamentary Constituency in Delhi To be discussed and finalized by the Board. The ticket aspirants are waiting for the announcement of the list of candidates by the BJP as the election date draws closer.

The election notification will be issued on April 13, while the last date for filing nominations is April 20.

Congress has announced candidates for 166 out of total 224 seats, while JD(S) has announced a list of 93 candidates.

The BJP, which aims to return to power with an absolute majority, has set a target of winning at least 150 of the total 224 seats.
