Meanwhile, the Indian Railways is planning to implement its state-of-the-art indigenous technology ‘Kavach’ implemented over 3,009 route kilometers (RKM) on the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah corridors, the government told the Rajya Sabha on Friday.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav made this announcement while replying to a question by Bharatiya Janata Party MP Brijlal.

Asked when “the armor technology is likely to be implemented”, the minister said “by February 28, 2022, the technology has been implemented on 1,098 RK of South Central Railway” and further “the armor is expected to be implemented on 3,009 km”. The plan is “on Delhi Mumbai and Delhi Howrah corridor”.

In addition, the Minister mentioned various features of the Kavach and said, “Prevention of Signal Passing at Danger (SPAD); Continuous Updation of Movement Authority; Prevention of Over-speed: Section Speed, Train Speed, Permanent Speed ​​Restriction and Loop Line.” Collision prevention between two locos equipped with speed control functional TCAS and display of signal aspect in the cab of the loco pilot are among the salient features of Kavach.”

He also informed that full section section trials for ‘Kavach’ started in October 2017 at Lingampalli-Wadi and Vikarabad-Bidar of South Central Railway.

The Minister said that automatic block section trial for ‘Kavach’ started in February 2019 at Sanath Nagar Lingampalli of South Central Railway and 160 kmph speed trial for ‘Kavach’ in Mathura-Agra of North Central Railway in October 2018. section started. ,
