BJP’s Rajinder Sharma and Baldev Singh Biloria were on Friday elected mayor and deputy mayor respectively of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC).
There was a direct contest between the BJP and the Congress for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor, but Congress councilors boycotted the election in protest against the change in voting process from secret ballot to open ballot.
Congress mayoral candidate Dwarka Nath Choudhary, however, got one vote. JMC commissioner Rahul Yadav told.
