Donetsk:

A Reuters eyewitness said several explosions were heard at around 1615 GMT on Monday in Donetsk city centre, which is organized by Russian-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine.

The nature of the explosions was not clear.

President Vladimir Putin told his Security Council on Monday that Russia should consider recognizing the independence of two separate regions in eastern Ukraine, a move that would intensify its standoff with the West and Kiev.
