Bhubaneswar: 3200 polling personnel will be deployed for Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation.BMC) elections, of which 800 will be presiding officers for 705 booths and 95 will be kept on standby.

Prafulla Kumar Swain, returning officer for BMC elections, who is also additional district magistrate, said, “Around 1,600 polling personnel will soon receive training to conduct BMC elections. The BJB College here will be the Dispensal Centre, Strong Room and Counting Center. We will not need any temporary structure for the polling station as we have buildings.”
Swain said there has been some repetition of names in the electoral rolls and they have to be removed. “Hence, the number of voters in the final electoral roll has come down from 7,27,456 (in the draft list) to 7,25,765. Two days after the SEC issued the notification for the election, we have started preparing for the filing of nomination papers by the candidates from March 2.
Officials said there would be another round of meetings with political parties to discuss the modalities of campaigning, filing of nominations and other issues.
