As the Term 2 board exams are approaching for students in CBSE and CISCE boards, students want the central board to focus more on internal assessment. This will be the second time that the current batch of students will be taking their board this year, however, they are not yet clear about how much weightage each term exam will have in the final results. Before the exams, students are demanding ‘Internal Assessment for All’. A large section of students wants the board to give 50% weightage to internal assessment and divide the remaining weightage between Term 1 and Term 2 tests.

Earlier, after reports of cheating in CBSE Term 1 exam, students had asked CBSE to reduce the weightage of Term 1 exam and calculate the final result. Around 30% weightage for Term 1 results, CBSE and CISCE are conducting examinations on the same pattern this year. Neither CBSE nor CISCE has announced the weightage for each section yet, however, it is clear that the final results will be based on Term 1, Term 2 and internal assessment.

Claiming that the current batch of students has also been affected by the pandemic and the schools were opened only near the exams. Students are locked in homes due to Kovid-19 for the last two years and have dealt with it learning loss due to online classes And loss of teaching hours due to school shutdown, a large section of students and activists is trending #InternalAssessmentforAll2022 on Twitter.

The central board decided to conduct two exams this year after last year was a no-exam year. Due to the pandemic, the students were assessed on the basis of alternate modes including previous year performance etc. This year, to avoid such a measure, the boards decided to conduct the exam twice. This is also in line with the NEP 2020 which suggests making the board exams a lesser stake.
