Sooraj Barjatya’s ‘Unchai’ turned out to be a heartwarming tale that was loved by the audience. The adventure-drama starring Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta and Parineeti Chopra talks about life, love and relationships with the help of an ordinary trek taken by four friends. After a successful run in theatres, the film recently released on ZEE5.
Boman recently shared that he would love to go and shoot more scenes and meet this amazing gang of friends again. He shared, “I would like to go back to Nepal to shoot a few more scenes and montages just for fun. The shooting experience was so smooth that I would love to go back with an amazing group of co-actors, people and crew just to spend time together and enjoy the moments together.
When asked about the theatrical run of the film and whether he is satisfied with the response, Boman shared, “Unchai did very well in the theatres. The film’s banner Rajshree has been in the business for 75 years and it’s a slow burn that you actually get to see in the theatre. It’s like catching as many fish as you can at once. He was confident that the film would make such a huge impact just by word of mouth. Over the years, he has had limited releases and this has always been his strategy.
He further added, “After the pandemic, people were hesitant to go to theaters and watch movies and OTT has impacted their viewing choices and it is not a bad habit. OTT has produced some great content since the pandemic hit. Now, it is time to differentiate whether it is through narrative, approach, idiom, but it also depends on the actors who are choosing the films.
On a concluding note, he shared, “It is important for writers to come up with stories that have not been explored. I really feel that the new generation of writers should get fame and that is the only way we will get a voice in cinema. Only in this way can the director direct, and the actors act.
