Bombay HC seeks medical record of Anil Deshmukh

The Bombay High Court on Friday said it will hear the bail plea of ​​former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on medical grounds only and adjourned the matter for two weeks.

A single bench of Justice Anuja Prabhudesai asked Mr Deshmukh’s advocates to produce the medical records and details of all his ailments in the next hearing.

Mr Deshmukh moved the court after the Special Court for the Prevention of Money Laundering Act rejected his bail on March 14, saying it “prima facie indicates that he exerted undue influence on the transfers and postings of police officers”. “

ED affidavit

On 7 April, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed an affidavit before the High Court, stating that Mr Deshmukh “abused his official position to collect money and was the mastermind and brainwashed in all money laundering activities”. He used undue influence to pass favorable transfers and postings of police officers”.

Mr Deshmukh, who is in CBI custody till April 11, was arrested by the ED on money laundering charges in November 2021.

The CBI on April 5, 2021 directed a preliminary inquiry against Mr Deshmukh, 71, by the High Court after former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh wrote a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and made the allegation. Ex-police officer Sachin Waje ordered to collect ₹100 crore from bars and restaurants.
