Brave browser adds Solana support, improves bat usability with new update

Privacy-first browser, Brave has unveiled its desktop browser version 1.39, which comes with Solana integration to improve Web 3 access for users. Before the announcement, the Brave browser had a linked wallet and a strong suite of tools for both novices and experts. Adding support for Solana means users will now be able to enjoy lower fees and faster transactions. Brave joined Opera, which took a similar step back in March when it integrated with Solana, Polygon, StarkX and other blockchain ecosystems.

The integration plan was first shared in November 2021. Using the desktop version 1.39, Brave Wallet users can transact SOL and SPL tokens directly from their Brave Wallet. In addition, they will be able to buy other cryptocurrencies with fiat through integration with Ramp. To top it all, the platform’s native token, Basic Attention Token (BAT) SPL has also been changed to token.

Confirming the development, Brendan Eich, CEO and co-founder of Brave, said, “As a leading web 3 Brave, the browser, is now providing integration with Solana’s blockchain so that users and developers can transact seamlessly on its fast, low-fee network.”

According to the announcement, solana The integration is a step among many others to improve the reach of the Web 3 ecosystem.

The firm also announced its integration with Ramp. Ramp integration allows users to buy crypto directly within the Brave Wallet. According to Greg McEwan, Head of Marketing at Ramp, the integration will shorten the “painful process of converting fiat currencies to crypto”.

Similarly, Brave announced its partnership with leading Solana NFT marketplace Magic Eden. Using BAT tokens, Brave Wallet users will soon be able to buy NFTs directly from their wallets. “The integration of Brave Wallet into our marketplace will further enhance the ecosystem,” said Sydney Zhang, Founder of Magic Eden.

In addition, Brave’s Brendan Eich said the firm would provide Decentralized App (DApp) Support in future releases.
