Quoting a tweet by Puneet’s wife Ashwini Puneet Rajkumar, Modi tweeted, “Appu lives in the hearts of millions across the world. He was talented, full of energy and possessed of unparalleled talent. Gandhada Gudi is a tribute to the natural beauty and environmental protection of Karnataka Mother Nature. My best wishes for this endeavour.”

Directed by Amoghavarsha, the teaser of the project was unveiled in December last year.
