Bring court employees under Puducherry government’s control: CPI

The Communist Party of India (CPI) has urged the Puducherry administration to accord the status of government employees to judicial employees.

AM Saleem, secretary of the party’s Puducherry unit, said in a statement that the employees working in the courts were earlier under the control of the Puducherry government. They have now been brought under the administrative control of the Madras High Court.

He said the employees used to enjoy the benefits of government employees, including consideration for promotions, when they were under the control of the UT administration, but are now facing difficulties in service matters. He alleged that he is not getting promotion and child care leave. He said that the employees have to work at the same place for years, contrary to the general rule of transfer every three years.

The party also urged the government not to induct employees above the age of 50 years as bench clerks in courts and to allow the Puducherry Judicial Employees Union to function along with the Federation of Pondicherry Government Employees Union.
