British fisherman caught 30 kg goldfish, may break world record

The giant orange specimen weighs 67lbs 4oz. (30.5 kg).

In a rare catch, a British fisherman was stunned after getting his hands on one of the world’s largest goldfish. new york post informed of, The giant orange specimen, aptly nicknamed Carrot, weighs in at 67lbs 4oz. (30.5 kg). It is 30lbs (13.6kg) heavier than what is believed to be the world’s largest goldfish caught by Jason Fugate in Minnesota, US in 2019.

Specifically, Andy Hackett, 42, caught the fish while fishing in Bluewater Lakes in Champagne, France, one of the world’s premier carp fisheries, the outlet further said in its report. The fish is a hybrid species of leather carp and koi carp, which are traditionally orange.

“I always knew the carrot was there but I never thought I’d catch it,” Mr Hackett said after his fishing victory.

It took Mr. Hackett 25 minutes to chase and catch the fish. “‘I knew it was a big fish when it took my bait and went up and down with it. Then it came to the surface about 30 or 40 yards away and I saw it was orange. It It was fantastic to catch it but it was also sheer luck,” Mr Hackett explained New York Post.

Meanwhile, pictures of ‘Gajar’ have created a buzz on social media. A Facebook page called Bluewater Lakes shared three photos of the smiling fisherman holding the giant fish in his hands. The caption of the post read, “CARROT, weight in @67.4lbs!! Well done Andy top swing.

Many people were surprised and congratulated the fisherman for the great catch. One comment read, “Saw it bouncing several times when I’ve been there but didn’t realize its size. It’s a stunner! Well done.” Another said, “Well done Andy on the capture of the fabulous carrot..finally nice to see him out.”

This particular specimen, which is reportedly 20 years old, was apparently introduced to the lakes 15 years ago “something a little different for anglers trying to catch” a Blue Water Lakes spokesperson jason cowler told usa today,

After posing for pictures with the fish, Mr. Hackett safely released the fish into the lake and celebrated with a cup of tea afterwards.
