Athens:

Greece’s Coast Guard said a 61-year-old British man drowned while trying to rescue two of his ships at sea off the island of Crete on Tuesday.

Two boys, aged 7 and 10, who were on vacation with their grandparents, went for a swim in the groves of northern Crete, but were in danger of being swept away by the waves.

Their grandfather, realizing that they were in danger, went to sea to rescue them while fighting the waves. Both the boys came out safely but the young man died.
