British man returns from vacation to find stolen house

The Reverend Mike Hall was stunned when he learned that all his belongings had been stolen from his home in Luton, England, when his residential property was sold to a new owner without his knowledge.

According to a BBC report, Mike was away from his property and working in North Wales when he received a call from his neighbor on 20 August. His neighbor informs him that someone has entered his house and all the lights are on.

The next morning, on August 21, Mike went back to his hometown and found that the locks had been replaced and all furnishings, including curtains, carpets and other furniture, had been completely stripped of the house.

Mike immediately called the police and apprised them of the situation. The house builder left after Mike arrived and returned with the new owner’s father. According to the father of the new owner, he bought the house in July for 131,000 pounds (about Rs 13,300,000).

A BBC report had revealed that a duplicate bank account and a duplicate driving license were used in Mike’s name to sell the house. And, even in the land registry documents, the new buyer’s name is registered as the owner of Mike’s home, which clearly means they are now the legal owners of the 3-bedroom property.

The police initially told Mike that his house had not been sold fraudulently but the police investigation was on after forged documents were found in Mike’s name.

Police said that they are currently conducting various inquiries in the investigation. However, according to the BBC, no arrest has been made in this case so far.
