BS Yediyurappa Travels In “Lucky” Ambassador As Son Enrolls

As BY Vijayendra set out to file his nomination for the May 10 assembly elections from Shikaripura constituency in this district, his father and former chief minister BS Yediyurappa chose his “lucky” Ambassador car to accompany him.

According to sources close to Yeddyurappa, the Karnataka BJP stalwart, who has announced his retirement from electoral politics, has a “deep affection” for the four-wheeler.

It was the white vintage vehicle that Yediyurappa had used decades ago to file his nomination for his first election, which he won.

“There has been no looking back since then. Despite many upheavals in his political career, Yediyurappa managed to become the chief minister of Karnataka four times,” said a source.

State BJP vice-president Vijayendra touched his father’s feet and sought his blessings before going to file his nomination papers on Wednesday. Yediyurappa followed them in his ambassador car.

Yeddyurappa was elected from this seat in 1983 and continued to represent it till 1999. After his defeat in 1999, he remained a member of the Karnataka Legislative Council till 2004. KJP that he broke ties with BJP).

He later returned to the BJP and then successfully contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections before returning to Karnataka politics in 2018.

Yeddyurappa became the chief minister twice after the 2018 assembly elections – once for a short tenure of six days from May 17, 2018 to May 23, 2018 and again from July 26, 2019 to July 28, 2021.
