Partapura (Jalandhar): Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Thursday accused the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leadership of selling the party to the SAD after it decided to field Akali leaders from their strongholds. Channi, who joined the dissidents BSP Leaders from different constituencies during a state-level function said the Mayawati-led party no longer represents the ideology of Babu Kanshi Ram, which aims to empower the Scheduled Castes.

Meanwhile, attacking AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, Channi questioned why Punjabis should believe in him when his own flock does not believe in him. “Three out of four AAP MPs elected in 2014 have left the party and 11 out of 20 MLAs elected in 2017 have also left. This shows that you are a house of cards and it is bound to collapse in a day or two. Describing AAP as the modern East India Company, he said an elite and unholy alliance of politicians beyond the Kejriwal party line ousted power from the common man to plunder Punjab. The Chief Minister also announced sub-division status to Kartarpur and Adampur and setting up of a chair in the name of Baba Sain ji and Baba Namdev ji.
Addressing the gathering, local MLA and Sports and Education Minister Pargat Singh said that Congress leaders did not believe him when earlier he used to say that Captain Amarinder Singh was colluding with the BJP. “The captain’s links with the BJP and the Akalis have been exposed and now Punjabis will have to teach a lesson to this trio for betraying the state,” he said. AICC Punjab affairs in-charge Harish Chowdhary also spoke on the same lines saying that Amarinder was sitting on the lap of PM and Home Minister.

The Chief Minister announced a grant of Rs 200 crore for Jalandhar, including Rs 11.46 crore for the newly constructed Dr BR Ambedkar College at Buta Mandi, Rs 2.71 crore for Satguru Kabir Bhawan, Rs 20.99 for storm water sewerage in Basti Danishmanda and sports. 78 crore for the hub. in Burleton Park. He also announced to waive off dues of Rs 64 crore of cooperative societies and Sri Guru Ravidas Bani Anusandhan Kendra in Ballan village over 100 acres.

If outsiders are to be fielded on BSP tickets, then where is the place for those who have worked for the party mission at the grassroots level for years.
