BTS holds 23 Guinness World Record titles on music and social media
Riding a wave of worldwide popularity, South Korean band Bangtan Boys, better known as BTS, has entered the Guinness World Records 2022 Hall of Fame with 23 records. Formed in 2010, the seven-member boy band debuted in 2013 and has since delivered one runaway hit after another. Today, they are the most streamed group on Spotify, overtaking British band Coldplay, and the most followed music group on Instagram. BTS holds 23 Guinness World Record titles in music and social media.
His May 2021 release, butter, single-handedly broke five records, including finding the most viewers for a premiere of a music video on YouTube. That record was previously held by his own song gunpowder.
The Bangtan Boys, which translates as “Bulletproof Boy Scouts”, became the first K-pop group to receive a Grammy Award nomination. gunpowder, but they failed to win it, prompting many fans to call the Recording Academy, which awards the prize. After the Guinness recognition, they were excited and filled with new energy.

Many noted BTS’s hugely popular speech at the United Nations in 2018 when a member of the band spoke up for youth and raised a burning issue of social importance. “No matter who you are, where you are from, your skin colour, your gender identity, just speak yourself. Find your name and find your voice by speaking yourself,” wrote Ryan Sy and many others.
Congratulating the band members, a user addressed their haters saying, “Congratulations Bangtan Boys.” Action speaks louder than words – to the haters. “
“Despite their young age”, the band members have “made a mark in the current cultural landscape, freed from the limitations of their home market and a language, South Korean, which is widely unknown to the international public”. Guinness World Records said in a statement.
BTS has already won American Music Awards and Billboard Music Awards. As band member RM once said, “the Grammys are… the final part of the all-American tour”.
