The real estate sector has suffered a lot during the pandemic. This sector comprises a significant portion of India’s GDP. Gaurav Karnik, Real Estate Leader, EY India said that a large number of real estate expectations in the Union Budget have not been fulfilled. No real significant tax measure or relief has been announced. On the policy side, increase in allocation for PM Awas Yojana, replacement of SEZ Act and digitization of land records and easier registration process are welcome steps.
