Parliament adjourned for an hour on Monday in honor of Lata Mangeshkar

The proceedings of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will be adjourned for an hour on Monday after MPs paid tributes to him in both the Houses of Parliament.

Officials said a decision has been taken that the Rajya Sabha will be adjourned for an hour after Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu read out Mangeshkar’s obituary during the House sitting at 10 am on Monday.

Sources said that the Speaker will read out the obituary of Om Birla Mangeshkar and adjourn the proceedings for an hour soon after the House meets at 4 pm.

The famous singer passed away on Sunday morning at the age of 92 in a hospital in Mumbai. She was admitted to the hospital in January, when she was suffering from COVID-19.

The Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address is being debated in both the Houses of Parliament and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to reply to the debate in the Lok Sabha on Monday and in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
