The Election Commission (EC) on Thursday said by-polls to two Rajya Sabha seats – one each in Bihar and Telangana – will be held on May 30. The Bihar seat fell vacant after the death of JD(U) member Mahendra Prasad on December 27, 2021. His term was otherwise to end on April 2, 2024.
The bypoll to the Telangana seat was necessitated following the resignation of TRS member Banda Prakash on December 4, 2021. His term too was to end on April 2, 2024. As per the established practice, the counting of votes will take place after one hour. Voting has ended at 4 pm.
The Election Commission said in a statement that the notification for both the bypolls would be issued on May 12.
