Revealing this on Instagram, dermatologist Dr Aanchal Panth said, “Technically, yes it can be used. If you have dry skin, you can use a body moisturizer on your face. She further added that body lotions are thicker, greasy and can leave the skin feeling oily. “Hence, if you have oily skin, it is better to use a light gel-based moisturizer on your face,” Dr. Creed said.

Another thing to keep in mind is that body lotion can contain fragrance. She revealed, “It’s okay to use scented products on the body. These will smell good and leave you feeling refreshed. But, you want to avoid using highly scented products on your face. If you only want to use moisturizer, choose a non-scented one.

Your face and body have very different skin types. The skin on your face is much thinner and much more sensitive than the skin on your body, which is thicker and far more prone to reactions. Additionally, because your face is more frequently exposed to harmful environmental elements like pollution and UV rays, it needs special care that ordinary body lotions can’t provide. Keep in mind that you buy facial moisturizers for a specific purpose because they are designed to meet your skin care needs, unlike body lotions, which are more universal in their application.

  1. Use warm water to wash your face and body, and make sure it is not too hot. Using very hot water can dry out your skin.
  2. When washing, gently massage the skin instead of rubbing or scrubbing.
