Cannes 2023: These Indian films will be screened

The Cannes Film Festival 2023 has begun and there is a lot of excitement about Indian films being showcased at this year’s event. a number of Indian celebritiesEsha Gupta and Anushka Sharma will debut at the 73rd Cannes Film Festival.

Here is the list of Indian films that will be screened at Cannes 2023:

Kennedy

Anurag Kashyap Kennedy Selected for the Midnight Screenings section of the Cannes Film Festival. The film revolves around the story of an ex-policeman who is presumed dead but is still in search of salvation. The film stars Sunny Leone, Rahul Bhat and Abhilash Thapliyal in lead roles.

elaborating on Kennedy And how the lead character was born, Kashyap said, “I have been with this character… ever since I was writing for Sudhir Mishra and he used to tell me stories about this mad cop… Years later, during the lockdown, in Mumbai an incident started in an idea and I took the police from Sudhir Mishra’s stories and put it around that incident and Kennedy was born.”

Agra

Agra will make its debut in the Directors’ Fortnite section of the Cannes Film Festival. it features Romance-The famous Rahul Roy is in the lead role. Other cast includes Priyanka Bose, Vibha Chibber, Sonal Jha, and Aanchal Goswami, Ruhani Sharma and debutant Mohit Aggarwal.

Agra Explores sexual dynamics within a family and the deep fractures that develop in modern India due to lack of physical space. It also explores how the lack of physical space affects our lives.

Ishanau

Filmmaker Aribam Syam Sharma’s 1990 film, Ishanau It will be screened under the classic section of the Cannes Film Festival. Interestingly, this is not the first Ishanau To be premiered at Cannes 2023. The film was earlier screened in 1991 under the Un Certain Regard section.

Ishanau It was preserved by the National Film Archive of India (NFIA) and was recently restored by the Manipur State Film Development Society.
