Two women sanitation workers were killed and three others were seriously injured after being hit by a speeding car in Telangana’s Medak district on Saturday.
According to a senior police officer, the incident took place at 5 am in Medak town when three sanitation workers of Medak Municipality were going to their office when the car ran over all three and two women employees of a petrol pump.
Police said a 53-year-old woman municipal worker died on the spot, while four women injured in the incident were rushed to a hospital, where another 55-year-old municipal worker succumbed to his injuries.
Police said one woman, who was seriously injured, has been shifted to Hyderabad, while two other women are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Medak.
Police said that a case has been registered and the driver of the car has been taken into custody while the vehicle has been seized.
