The e-hospital server of the National Informatics Centre, used at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi, was down at 7 am on Wednesday, affecting the Outpatient Department (OPD) and sample collection service. AIIMS officials had said that all these jobbers are working on ‘manual mode’.

AIIMS said in a statement yesterday that a team from the National Informatics Center (NIC) working at AIIMS has informed that it could be a ransomware attack. Appropriate enforcement officers will investigate it.

An AIIMS official had said that, “The OPD and IPD digital hospital services including smart lab, billing, report generation and appointment system have been affected by the server outage.” Another official said the OPD and sample collection services were provided in ‘manual mode’.

AIIMS had said in statements that steps are being taken to restore digital services and the Indian Computer Emergency Response Support Team (CERT-In) is being taken over by NIC. “AIIMS and NIC take due precautions to prevent such offers in future. Hospital administration manual mode is being offered till 7.30 pm,” the statements read.
