Income Tax Department has issued over ₹The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Friday said that over 49 lakh taxpayers have been given refunds worth Rs 80,000 crore in the current financial year.
CBDT, which formulates the policy for the Income Tax Department, said that this figure includes income tax refund. ₹19,699 crore and corporate tax refund in 47,53,254 cases ₹60,387 crore in 1,63,021 cases.
“CBDT issued refund of excess ₹80,086 crore to over 49.16 lakh taxpayers from April 1, 2021 to September 27, 2021.” This includes 20.92 lakh refunds for AY (Assessment Year) 2021-22. ₹1611.45 crores,” it said.

The central government had earlier extended the due dates for filing income tax returns and various audit reports for the assessment year 2021-22.
