Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued refund of over ₹67,401 crore to over 23.99 lakh taxpayers between April 1 and August 16, India’s Income Tax Department said on Saturday.
It further said that income tax refund ₹16,373 crore has been released in 22,61,918 cases and corporate tax refund ₹51,029 crores have been released in 1,37,327 cases.
“CBDT issued refunds of over Rs 67,401 crore to over 23.99 lakh taxpayers between April 1, 2021 and August 30, 2021. Income tax refund of Rs 16,373 crore and corporate tax refund of Rs 51,029 crore issued in 22,61,918 cases Issued in 1,37,327 cases,” Income Tax India tweeted.
Earlier on August 21, the department had said that it has issued income tax refund of excess ₹49,696 crore to over 22.75 lakh taxpayers between April 1 and August 16.
