CBSE 10th, 12th Board Exam 2023 to be Held at a Later Date for Students Participating in Sports, Olympiads

central board of secondary education (CBSE) has outlined specific considerations for students competing in National/International sporting events and Olympiads. When a student’s board exams conflict with the dates of national or international sporting events, such as travel dates for competitions Play authority India (SAI) and Board of Cricket their dates of the International Olympiads recognized by the Control in India (BCCI) or Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education (HBCSE), CBSE Provides a special opportunity by conducting special examination at a later date.

The board, in its notification published on October 21, said that in such cases students will have to submit a request to their schools to avail the special opportunity in the main examination of the board. They will also have to request SAI/BCCI/HBCSE to issue certificate of participation. These activities need to be carried out in such a manner that the school’s recommendations along with the certificate of participation reach the regional office of CBSE by December 31, the official notice said.

Regional offices will have to inform about the approval by January 15. The rescheduled exam will preferably be conducted within 15 days from the last conducted exam as per the board exam 2023 date sheet. However, students will not have access to this special provision for internal assessment, practical examination or compartment examination.

The Board also emphasized that participation in training/selection camps is not permitted under this occasion. No relaxation will also be provided in excess of the attendance allowed by CBSE.

The list of nodal officers of SAI and BCCI as well as the sports disciplines covered by each are included in the annexures to the notification. Proforma of Certificate of Participation issued by the concerned authorities including SAI, BCCI and HBCSE is also provided by CBSE.

As the Government of India has taken several measures to encourage sports among the youth, CBSE has also brought health and physical education into the mainstream at secondary and senior secondary levels by introducing a compulsory slot every day for sports and games. It is mandatory for all children from class 1 to 12 to participate in at least two sports according to their interest and ability. This is a prerequisite for the students to appear in the class 10 and 12 board exams.
