CBSE 12th Physics Term 1 exam tough by teachers, more marks may reduce marks for some

The Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) based test was tough as it was dominated by numericals. Unlike a subjective test, where students may get marks for the correct formula or steps used by them in the MCQ exam, if a student marks the wrong option, he/she will not get any marks. This can make scoring difficult for many students.

“The question paper was NCERT based but the difficulty level was above average. Some of the questions were suggestive and required deep control over the concept. Some questions require more time because of the calculations involved. After the exam, all the candidates were not satisfied with their performance and found the paper quite difficult,” said Dr Bhavna Kulshrestha, Principal, Amity International School, Sector 1 Vasundhara Ghaziabad.

“The Physics paper for class XII was a good mix of conceptual as well as numerical questions. But the inclination of the question paper was more towards numerical questions. The paper was of moderate level. There were some tricky questions too,” said Anshu Mittal, principal, MRG School, Rohini.

“There were no factual, spelling or printing errors in the Class 12 Physics paper. However, overall the paper was lengthy and the numerical calculations were not very straightforward. Section C was scoring. However, Section B was challenging mainly due to lengthy calculations. It will be a challenge for the students to get 35/35 marks,” said Rachna Arora PGT Physics Shiv Nadar School, Noida.

This is not the only MCQ paper with tricky questions. Lok Sabha member MK Premachandran raised questions on CBSE Term 1 exam during Zero Hour. He claimed that thousands of students are “depressed” after taking the maths and English exams conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education. Education (CBSE) on 6 December and 3 December respectively.
