CBSE has revised the syllabus for classes 9 to 12 to go back to what it was before Covid-19 hit India. The board has also changed some chapters.

For the upcoming batch of 2023 board candidates, CBSE has gone back to the annual examination system. CBSE had opted for only Term 1 and Term 2 exams for the 2022 batch as a precaution after not being able to conduct some exams in 2021 and no exams in 2020. Now, with the Covid-19 situation under control, the board has scrapped the two-term examinations and will return to the annual examination system.

The board has also revised the syllabus for classes 9 to 12. From 2020 onwards, the board exams are being conducted on the basis of the syllabus with a deduction of 30 per cent. Now, the board has revised the syllabus for these classes, which was before the arrival of Covid-19 in India. The board has also changed some chapters.

Dividing the academic session, holding two term-end exams, and rationalizing the syllabus were part of the special assessment plan announced by CBSE as a “one-time measure” for board exams for classes 10 and 12 in 2021-22. from the COVID-19 pandemic.

This has left the current batch of students unhappy, who claim that it was unfair that only their batch had to appear for the board twice. Term 1 exam for class 10 and 12 has already been done and term 2 will start from 26th April. The students are demanding that the Term 2 exam be canceled and the final result be calculated on the basis of Term 1 and internal assessment.

The rising number of COVID-19 cases has re-raised concerns of possible school closures, even as experts warn against long-term learning losses due to prolonged closures . Several schools in Delhi-NCR have started closing specific classrooms or wings where students or staff members have tested positive for COVID-19.
