Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials on Monday conducted surprise checks and checked banned items at the Parappana Agrahara Central Jail ahead of the elections.
A team of 50 police officers led by SD Sharanappa, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) carried out searches in the jail at around 6 am, which continued till 9.30 am.
During the search, officers found two mobile phones, two SIM cards, about four knives, a pair of scissors, traces of drug use and tobacco products.
The officials questioned the unruly elements and warned them not to influence people on behalf of any candidate or political parties.
The seizure has been handed over to the Chief Jail Superintendent along with the report for further action.
Jail authorities have taken measures to lodge a complaint with the jurisdictional Parappana Agrahara police.
